When a graduate raises €35M to develop their FinTech business
Huge fundraiser for SESAMM, co-founded by Pierre Rinaldi (BSB'16), to ensure its international growth
At the beginning of March, SesaMM announced a historic fundraiser for the company: 35 million euros that will enable it to accelerate its growth and international development.
Co-founded in 2014 by Pierre Rinaldi while still a student at BSB, SESAMM is now a leader in automatic language processing, a cutting-edge field of artificial intelligence. The team now has nearly 100 data experts, with offices in Paris, London, New York or Tokyo.
She works on vast amounts of textual information from the web, from news sites to NGO reports to social media, to transform them into powerful, relevant and quickly usable information.
“This operation will allow us to accelerate our international development, particularly in the United States and Asia, and to support our technological developments in artificial intelligence for ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance criteria) and sentiment analysis”, welcomes Pierre Rinaldi.
“We are convinced that this segment is promising and that it offers numerous growth opportunities for our company. In addition, this capital raising will make it possible to recruit key talents in ESG, IT development and artificial intelligence, sales and marketing.”
Enchanted partners
This funding round was jointly led by Elaia, a venture capital firm specializing in deep tech, and Opera Tech Ventures, BNP Paribas venture capital fund. This fund raising also benefits from the participation of the asset manager Unigestion, Raiffeisen Bank International through its venture capital entity Elevator Ventures, AFG Partners, CEGEE Capital as well as SESAMM's historical investors, including Carlyle and New Alpha Asset Management, who had already participated in an initial funding round. This operation brings the total funds raised by SESAMM to 50 million euros.
“Since we started working with SESAMM as an investor and client over two years ago, we have been impressed by both the company's growth and its leading indicators that have supported our processes of company research, due diligence, and value creation for our portfolio companies,” said Matt Anderson, Carlyle's Chief Digital Officer. “We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with SESAMm by participating in this new round of funding.”
“We are grateful for the trust our partners have placed in us. We are convinced that these investments will bear fruit and allow us to consolidate our positioning on the market”, concludes Pierre Rinaldi.
