The School of Wine enthrones 12 leading women

A collection of inspiring godmothers, symbols of a sector that is becoming more feminine

Since the inauguration of its dedicated building in 2018, the BSB School of Wine & Spirits Business (SWSB) has decided to appoint “Grand Witnesses”, important and influential personalities in the wine world, who are honored to sponsor the institution. The idea is to establish a close link with the major players in the sector, in particular so that students can be as close as possible to the environment in which they are required to evolve, to better understand it, and to be inspired by these remarkable paths.

Initially, these “Great Witnesses” were mostly men: Guillaume d'Angerville (President of the Burgundy Climates Association, Domaine Marquis d'Angerville), Albéric Bichot (Maison Albert Bichot), Thierry Brouin, Jean-François Curie (Maison Boisset — La Famille des Grands Vins), Guillaume Deglise, Erwan Faiveley (Maison Faiveley), Stéphane Folliney (Maison Faiveley), Thierry Brouin, Jean-François Curie (Maison Boisset — La Famille des Grands Vins) -Arbelet (Châteaux de Meursault and Marsannay — Wine Market), Pierre-Henry Gagey (Maison Louis Jadot), Louis-Fabrice Latour (Maison Louis Latour), Frédéric and... Véronique Drouhin ( Joseph Drouhin House).

100% feminine cuvée

On Thursday, February 6, a second wave of exclusively female “Grand Witnesses” was enthroned. This choice is made in line with the historical values of equality of BSB and SWSB, just as it corresponds to the realities of a sector that is becoming feminized, whether in terms of technical or commercial aspects; a trend that is also true in the proportion of women found in the latest promotions of SWSB.

The women who will be thus enthroned: Judith Cartron (Joseph Cartron House), Nathalie Fèvre (Domaine Nathalie and Gilles Fèvre), Géraldine Godot (Domaine de l'Arlot), Ludivine Griveau (Hospices de Beaune), Anne Gros (Anne Gros Estate), Nadine Gublin (Domaine Labruyère), Anne Parent (Parent domain), Rose-Marie Ponsot (Domaine Ponsot, MS CIVS graduate), Virginie Taupenot (Domaine Taupenot-Merme), Nathalie Tollot (Domaine Tollot-Beaut et Fils), Chantal Tortochot (Domaine Tortochot, BSB graduate) and Cécile Tremblay (Domaine Cecile Tremblay).

“The objective is to be able to expand this group over the years,” explains Jérôme Gallo, Director of SWSB. “Today exclusively from Burgundy, it will then be a question of extending it to other vineyards in France and abroad. Each “Grand Witness” is given a scarf that symbolizes the respect and recognition of the SWSB for the action taken that promotes the sector and the region. A photo of each one also adorns the SWSB premises. It was very important for us to feminize this group.”
