Senior Sales Executive at WarnerMedia
Who were you before being a Senior Sales Executive at WarnerMedia?
I am Alicia, I am 29 years old and I am originally from Grenoble. I played basketball for 10 years. I like TV shows and travel. I did a 2-year LEA degree in Aix-en-Provence then a double master's degree in business at BSB Dijon and in marketing at the University of Hertfordshire in England.
And if not, what do you do for a living... professionally?
I am a sales rep at WarnerMedia. I am in charge of marketing our channels and services (Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Boing, Boing, Toonami, Adult Swim, TCM Cinema, TNT, Warner TV, CNN International) to operators and providers of TV offers in French-speaking Europe, Benelux, Africa and Israel.
A word about your background between BSB and your current job?
I started at WarnerMedia 3 weeks after graduation. Initially, I was replacing maternity leave but the person I was replacing resigned. After that I was offered his job. I have been working at WarnerMedia for a little over 4 years now.
If you had to introduce WarnerMedia to a kid?
It is an American conglomerate that operates in film and television. Its main subsidiaries are HBO (Game of Thrones, Westworld, Westworld, Sex & The City, etc.), Warner Bros (Harry Potter, Justice League, Matrix, etc.) and Turner (Cartoon Network, CNN, CNN, Adult Swim: Rick&Morty).
A striking anecdote to tell?
It was after watching Tomb Raider in the cinema in 2001 that I wanted to work in media. I was 9 years old...
The greatest achievement that you should have celebrated more?
Have successfully found a job in the media sector and for one of the main players in this sector.
The biggest difficulty you have experienced so far in the media sector?
The concentrations. The media sector is constantly changing. Right now, media and telecommunications giants are joining forces to face fierce competition. These transactions lead to internal reorganizations that can be stressful.
A testimony concerning the Covid-19 episode?
During Covid, we switched to 100% remote working quite quickly. As people were at home, our audiences and TV consumption increased. However, Covid has had an impact on content production in the United States, some TV and movie releases have had to be postponed. Luckily, we didn't experience a shortage of content.
What is an actor of change for you?
A person or entity that will shake up the established order.
An actor of change who inspires you?
Netflix, because it is one of the pioneers in the field of SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand), it has forced American giants to transform and evolve.
Your morning routine to have the energy to change things every day?
I get motivated by listening to music.
What kind of student were you?
I was discreet but dynamic. I was part of the BDE and was the coach of the women's basketball team.
If you could relive your student days, what would you do differently?
Nothing. They were fantastic years. I have had experiences and met people who have allowed me to get to where I am.
What was the choice of path or the action taken when you were a student that served you the most?
What served me the most was to do the English-speaking course because I have always been interested in the international world and thanks to this course I was able to do my double degree in England. This year abroad was very rewarding on an intellectual level.
An encounter that particularly inspired you during your time at BSB?
During the admission exams, I met a jury member who worked as a documentary producer. Her presence gave me confidence to talk about my professional project because she was working in the sector I was aiming for, in a position that interested me. It is certainly this meeting and this exchange that earned me a great oral grade and my acceptance at the BSB.
Your next big ambition?
Why not work on a TV series?
Any advice or a message for a BSB student?
Enjoy your student years!
