L'histoire de Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) remonte au 18ème siècle, la School of Business and Economics a été fondée en 1902 et compte environ 6000 étudiants. La ville de Münster se situe dans le nord du Land (région) Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie, elle en était la capitale jusqu'à 1945. La population est jeune et dynamique, car la ville compte environ 50 000 étudiants.
